Questions to ask a photographer

How do they describe their style?

I’m an awesome, quirky, romantic and fun professional female Kent Wedding photographer who happily covers the globe. I describe myself as a high-end professional documentary female wedding photographer with a quirky, relaxed, romantic and creative edge. My photos are relaxed, colourful, bright, emotional and always tell a beautiful story.

What makes them stand out from the rest?

I’m the coolest, most relaxed and most enthusiastic person/ photographer you have ever met! I’m bloody good at my job and get to know my clients really well on both a professional and personal level. This relationship is key to capturing the best images on your special day. In summary I’m: Pretty chilled, just a little quirky, lots of fun and of course uber-professional when I need to be!

What other photography do they do and what
is their day job?

I’m a full-time photographer which means this is my day job – so I spend all my time with a camera in my hand. I also attend training sessions regularly in order to keep up to date with technology and trends. I also shoot parties, events, family, boudoir and professional headshots. I live and breathe both my business and photography.

What type of camera and equipment does the photographer use?

I use three professional digital canon EOS 5D Mark 3 SLR’s with professional (L Series), top of the range lenses. For the technically minded I can tell you I have: 70-200mm F 2.8 L series lens // 24-70mm 2.8 // 35mm 1.2 // 16-35mm f 2.8 L // 50mm 1.2 // 3X Yongnuo 600 EX-RT Speedlight flashes // 1 X Yongnuo YN-E3-RT Speedlight transmitter (for off camera flash – perfect for indoor or low light conditions) // EOS 3000D film camera – in case you want to go vintage!

Does the photographer use an assistant or
a second shooter?

Sometimes… The more informal you want the photos, the less I need an assistant. If you want me to pose 100 guests into a heart shape then I’ll probably need an assistant too! Also… If you are having over 100 guests I recommend a second photographer.

What happens if the photographer is ill?

I have a network of other professional photographers who would happily step in if I were unwell on the day of your wedding. My network of second shooters are also perfectly capable of managing a wedding alone if something happened on the day.

Can friends and family take photos while the photographer is working?

My informal style lends itself well to guest interaction; I enjoy other people taking photos around me. However, at times I will need to ask people to follow instructions, especially when I’m taking group photos as I do need everyone in one place at one time! But I am ever so polite….

Will the photographer work with me to agree a shot list?

Yes, I have a ‘standard’ list of shots I suggest we build on together to ensure that you have every photo you want of all combinations of you, you and your guests and a variety of locations around the venue you have chosen. I am also open to any ideas you may have. I suggest we share a Pinterest board to start getting some ideas. We can also do the engagement shoot a your venue if you wish… to get some ideas.

What if the wedding overruns – will there be an extra charge for this?

Nope

How long after my big day will the photos be ready?

This can take up to 6 weeks (maximum); but usual turnaround is 4 weeks.

What type and how much assistance will they provide in planning your album?

I will help you choose the right photos for the album and then design the layout for you. You will get an online version of the album to ‘proof’ and the album won’t go to print until you are 110% happy that it is exactly what you want. I can promise you it will be magnificent, but I warn you; it might bring a tear to your eye.

Does the photographer have public liability insurance?

Yes – I’m fully and professionally insured should anyone fall over my equipment or anything go wrong on the day that is my responsibility to cover.

How should can I book you for my wedding?

jJust visit my contact page, fill in the form and I will be in touch asap. xx
